Sorry it's been so long since the last post! We moved on base at NAS Jacksonville last week and are in the process of getting a new computer (it's not so much a "process" as finding the time and motivation to pick out and purchase one) so uploading pictures has sort of fallen by the wayside recently since I don't want to upload pictures onto the old one only to have to transfer them immediately to the new one. Rest assured, I'm still taking tons of pictures of Emma in action -- they will appear in a mega-post the next time she gives me a long enough nap to accomplish anything, as I have decided that I can wait for the new computer no longer.
Emma has really turned into a big girl in the past few weeks: she can point at objects of interest and say "that" so we will identify them for her; she says "Daddy" with enough consistency to tell that she actually is referring to her father when she says it; she can point out the eyes, noses, and mouths on her baby dolls and in books and photographs; she can repeat the word "eyes" after she points at them (when she feels like it, at least); she can walk behind a walker like a pro (she wore her first pair of shoes recently and we went outside with her walker to test them out -- the videos above are of that momentous occasion); she carries on full conversations (although unintelligible) with herself and anyone who will listen; she eats big girl food exclusively now (she never liked baby food so it's a relief that she's finally eating -- favorites right now are grilled cheddar on whole wheat, peas, corn, sucking on peeled apples [still no teeth to speak of yet], orange segments, strawberries, green beans, bananas -- pretty much any fruit or vegetable is what it boils down to, I guess); she loves reading books and will point out everything on the page to you at least twice; and she loves baby dolls and is a great little mother to them :-) We are busy around here all the time because Emma is a nonstop whirlwind of energy but we wouldn't have it any other way!
So proud of my big lady girl!
